Extremely Rare Wartime Production/1964 Admiralty Issue FR Code Third Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

A fabulous piece of F-S history this one. In 1964 the Admiralty (governing body of the Royal Marine Commandos) placed an order with Wilkinson Sword for some new F-S Fighting Knives, as well as these newly produced knives, they also pulled remaining wartime production knives out of stores, all were subisqently marked up with the Admiraltie’s new stores codes, these being; FR271 for the scabbard and FR693 for the knife. This example is a completely correct late-war Third Pattern F-S complete with scabbard, subsequently and correctly marked up with the 1964 Admiralty stores codes. Condition is issued and used with a blade length of 6 3/4”, cast grip mould number of ‘4’ and wartime MoS inspection stamp of ⩚12. A fabulous piece of F-S and Commando history, begin an original wartime production F-S but later issued to the Royal Marine Commandos during the 1960’s. A fascinating and important find.
