Exceptionally Rare WWII Wilkinson ‘Fully Etched’ Third Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

Experienced collectors know that one of the rarest of all original WWII Wilkinson F-S Knives is the ‘fully etched’ Third Pattern. Surprisingly much rarer than even the First Pattern F-S, as a consequence and much to the frustrations of collectors looking to add the big three Wilkies to their treasures - the fully etched Wilkinson Third, especially those with etchings ‘and’ blued blades are incredibly elusive. So with all that said, I’m thrilled to be able to offer this totally genuine Wartime Wilkinson Third Pattern F-S, in honest used condition and resplendent in having ‘both’ of it’s etchings present, clear and readable. A carried and used Commando Dagger, showing normal signs of wear, sharpening and general use but remaining in solid, complete and totally honest condition. With a full length blade of 6 7/8”, showing signs of sharpening and age but with much of the original bluing remaining and importantly ‘both’ etching panels clear and readable. Of course these is NO import stamp on either the knife or scabbard. The hilt is solid with some very slight movement, the cast grip number is ‘1’ and the pommel nut is intact and untouched. And if it couldn’t get any rarer, this example has been assembled with a blind ‘spigot’ pommel nut, something Wilkinson experimented with for a short time before reverting back to the common drilled through nut. This rare Wilkie F-S comes with it’s original and correct scabbard, showing normal wear and use consistent with the knife, both wings still intact, elastic retaining strap has been replaced with a snap-fastener. A ‘very’ rare knife in wonderful used condition and correct in every respect.
