Issued, Carried, Original & Complete, Wilkinson First Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

I have a real appreciation for a genuine Wilkie First Pattern ‘Commando’ Knife, one that has clearly been issues, carried and well used but totally honest, I wonder which Commando raids this beauty went on? Condition is as pictured, no issues, very minor movement to the guard but this is ever so slight and only mentioned for full disclosure. Both etchings are still visable and readable. The blade now shows a length of 6 1/4”, having seen lots of use. This comes with a really great original and correct scabbard, with the classic field modification of a ‘button-hole’ at the top of the frog, this was done to attach the frog to the battledress trouser when worn as intended in the mag-pocket and to prevent the frog from flopping down when the knife was drawn. The belt slits have also been extended, another very common field modification that allows for wear on the P37 webbing belt. All these details just add to the character and history of a ‘real’ Commando dagger that has been carried and used. Pristine examples are wonderful but there is always something rather special about an honest Wilkie that has seen service like this one.
