Early Type I ‘Issued, Carried & Used’ Wilkinson Second Pattern F-S Fighting Knife Complete With Original Scabbard

A wonderful example of this early and desirable Type I Wilkinson Second Pattern F-S. This short lived version was introduced in August of 1941 as a replacement to the First Pattern. This lovely, honest example is complete with its original and correct scabbard. Clearly a Commando Dagger that was issues, carried & used, as the overall condition shows normal and reasonable wear. The scabbard has had both wings ‘cut’, this is often encountered, as it shows it was original ‘sewn’ into the battle-dress map pocket and later cut to remove. The frog has been modified with some additional leather to support the frog and the addition of a snap-fastener, where the frog is attached, it is now ‘weak’ but still attached. Overall the knife is excellent for a carried and used example with much of the original plating still present. The pommel nut is original and untouched. The appears full length at 6 1/2” with sharpening marks and some age staining. Both etchings are still clear and readable. Overall, this is an excellent example of a totally honest & original early Type I Wilkinson Second Pattern F-S that is still complete with the scabbard it was issues with - a rare find.
