Circa 1943 Wilkinson Indian Contract Third Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

A fine example of this very well made and robust mid-war Third Pattern. Produced (but I believe not delivered) for the 1943 Indian contract by Wilkinson. This mid-war Third Pattern has the thick hand-ground, full length blade at 6 3/4” showing some very light sharping but retaining most of its high polish finish. The hilt is solid with most of it’s original finish remaining. The crossguard has the correct ‘⩚I MoS inspection stamp with the other side stamped with the US import mark of England, so never issues (as almost all of these are). The grip as the wartime cast grip mould number of ‘2’. The pommel nut is intact and original but has been tightened at some point. This knife comes with an excellent correct pattern Wilkinson scabbard, with both wings intact but the frog backing and elastic is now missing.
