Incredibly rare, desirable and important. Original Wilkinson No9 Commando numbered First Pattern F-S Fighting Knife complete with its original and correct scabbard. Any 30946 numbered Wilkinson First Pattern is a treasure but finding an example is such splendid and complete condition as number 184 offered here, is especially important. A wonderful full length blade at 6 7/8”, showing some minor age staining, with strong & clear etching panels and amazingly retaining most of its original factory polish and showing factory sharpening only with an intact and perfect blade tip. The hilt is solid with no issues, retaining most of its original plating. The pommel nut is original, intact and untouched. The pommel part of the grip correctly stamped with the 30946 Field Force Number on one side and the knife’s individual serial number of 184 on the opposing side. Numbered Wilkinson First Patterns like this rarely surface, especially in such wonderful condition, which appears almost unused..! I have likely handled more of these rare knives than anyone in living memory and I believe this is the finest I have ever seen. If this is not at the top of your wants list, it should be. An unbelievably rare numbered Wilkie in astonishing original condition that would likely be the highlight of any serious collection.
