Rare 1954-1964 (SAS/Malayan Emergency Interest) Wilkinson Third Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

In the post-war years Wilkinson continued to produce the F-S Knife and full-fill military contracts, such knives are very rare these days, as such I have always found this period of Wilkinson’s F-S production very interesting. This wonderful rare example dates from 1954 to 1964, placing it right in the period where the SAS were involved in the Malayan Emergency (1948 - 1960), so may be of interest for collectors due to that possible connection. The knife appears unused but has some age related staining. The wonderful full length, highly polished blade is at 6 3/4” and has the specific Wilkinson etching panel associated with this period. The construction during this period was similar to wartime production, so this has the classic hand-ground very thick blade. The hilt is tight and solid and the pommel nut is original and untouched, slightly ‘sunk’ into the grip, which is correct for this period. This rare Wilkie is complete with its original and correct ‘wartime’ pattern of scabbard, now missing its elastic retaining strap and frog backing. This is a really great example of a seldom seen Wilkinson Third Pattern from a fascinating period.
