Rare & Interesting SOE/E&E Pencil Dagger

A fascinating and unusual find. A Special Operations Executive or Escape & Evasion ‘Pencil’ dagger. This small daggers were issued to SOE agents, RAF pilots and also included in Red Cross parcels for prisoners of war, the logic being that this small dagger was hidden inside an inconspicuous pencil that would not attract any attention or be overlooked during a search. I have sold complete examples over the years (see inset pictures) but this is the first ‘used’ example I have come across. At around 4 3/4” it is understandably small. Never the less, an incredibly rare and fascinating clandestine or escape & evasion item.
