Extraordinarily Rare ‘Matched’ ⩚60 Second Pattern (Wilkinson) F-S Fighting Knife

Although not marked by Wilkinson, due to the construction of the knife and scabbard, I am certain this was made by them. Only a handful of these have surfaced over the years, so a true rarity within F-S collecting. A circa 1941/2 Type I (all nickel) Second Pattern with the Ministry of Supply ownership/inspection stamp of ⩚60, complete with its matched scabbard with intact elastic retaining strap, both wings, plated chape ‘and’ carrying the same inspection stamp - it really doesn’t get much better than this and for the discerning collector ticks all the boxes. The blades appears to be full length at 6 5/8”, possibly a sympathetically cleaned, aside from that, both knife and scabbard appear untouched. Original and intact pommel nut and with some very slight plating loss in some areas of the hilt. The very rare MoS stamp of ⩚60 is the only marking on the knife and scabbard, so this is an early issued, carried and used Commando Dagger. I cannot overstate how rare these are, in the decades I have been doing this, I believe this is only the third example I have had.
